In a surprise twist, Eren is revealed to still be alive, having been eaten by a Titan; he was revealed to have burst out of the Titan that ate him, having transformed into the Titan that was defending the humans! In a flashback, Eren’s Dad gave him an injection of a mysterious formula, one that gives him the power to transform into a Titan!
Some of the leaders of the human warriors want Eren dead, believing he can’t control his powers, and cruelly judging that Eren will be a threat to humanity’s survival, but another faithful general overrules them, believing Eren could be the advantage and key to destroying the other Titans. First thing’s first though. The faithful general wants Eren (in Titan form) to help use a giant boulder to plug up the hole in the first wall that the Colossus Titan made, to prevent more Titans from getting into the cities. Afterwards, Eren plans to travel back to his family’s old house. He remembers in another flashback, his Dad left secrets in the basement that could explain the origin of the Titans, and how to destroy them.
I loved this third volume very much! Lots of different sides to take, growing fear and panic to conquer, and lots of building conflicts to combat and solve! I’m eager to see if plugging up the hole in the first wall will succeed…!

Usually the manga gives the reader a better, more detailed story than the anime adaptation. It seems though that in the case of Shingeki no Kyojin it's the other way around. The plot is not explored in such in-depth manner as in the anime and the graphic presentation is really terrible.
The only reason I did not drop the series is because we need to wait for season 2 of anime another year or more.
