Yasmine Galenorn has done it again. She's created a fascinating series that keeps you on the edge of your seat from the very beginning. I loved the blending of past information with present discoveries. Seeing a new relationship progress and become stronger is heart-lifting.

With Bewitching Bedlam, Yasmine Galenorn has just given me everything thing I have been wanting in a fresh paranormal read.

Maudlin “Maddy” Gallowglass may have just become my favorite of Ms. Galenorn’s lead ladies. She's hands down a total kick a** woman. Maddy has lived a long life, made history, loved and lost. Hundreds of years running, fighting and maybe even reeking a bit of havoc. Maddy is smart, strong and independent. A talented witch and an amazing friend. Maddy’s personality shines through the pages. She funny, snarky and powerful in more ways than one. Maddy is a complex character whom I very much connected with. Her charm and charisma make it very easy to like her, once I got to know Maddy, I was fascinated.

Aegis is a smoking hot vampire musician. He just enough alpha to make me purr. He what I call the perfect romantic vampire. He commanding but not overly aggressive. He respectfully and caring.

Excellent world building, a few plot twists and amazing characters make Bewitching Bedlam a fantastic read. Ms. Galenorn has outdone herself. First the world building- is truly excellent. An island that is 95% pretcom is the playing field for the Bewitching Bedlam series. I love the mixing of so many paranormal beings. You can almost feel the magic coming off the pages. The town itself is almost like a character. It has a personality that is all its own. Next, the plot twist- Ms. Galenorn kept me engaged and guessing through the entire story. Just when you think you got it, something will happen and change it all up. Characters- the cast of the story rock. Yes, all of them. Personality shines through, even with secondary characters. Making the story that much more enjoyable. Sandy is flamboyant, funny and bold. She is a riot and I absolutely loved her. Characters I really didn't want to like found a way do so. Many characters have a long history with many ups and downs, creating a deep layer to this tale.

Bewitching Bedlam is just what I have been wanting/needing in a paranormal read. The first full length book of the series is like a breath of fresh air. We've got every kind of paranormal creature you can think of, humor and sass, a touch of suspense, multiple layers of depth and personality and some smoking hot romance. What more could I ask for? A quick moving story with a fully engaging plot. Bewitching Bedlam will satisfy all of your paranormal needs.

Bewitching Bedlam is book one in the Bewitching Bedlam series by Yasmine Galenorn.

I grabbed this as a freebie to try. I’ve had my eye on this series and Ms. Galenorm for a while. I was going into this story thinking I was getting a fun B&B storyline with a cast of magic characters to enjoy; unfortunately this novel didn’t live up to what I had hoped. We do get a cast of magical characters, but it wasn’t a fun B&B storyline. Their where things I liked and things I didn’t, but it just didn’t grab me enough to have me continue the series.

To start I’m not sure if I’m missing reading books before this one or a series I should have read before Bewitching Bedlam, but it feels like I missed something. The first chapter/introduction starts with Maudlin and Aegis having sex. I’ve got no issues with sex in my books, but to jump into that when we don’t know the characters or what’s up. Ah! Then to add to my issue we jump back in time a little bit and then we come back to the present. Can you see how this might be shocking and confusing. I sure didn’t care for the beginning.

Now let’s move onto the character and world building. We don’t get enough character building for any of the characters. Nor is there any world building. We do learn about Maudlin’s past and that she is very powerful and feared by a lot of supernaturals.

Then we have the romance. I wasn’t feeling the romance between Maudlin, our witch, and Aegis, our vampire. It just felt off and I think that had to do with Maudlin being a hunter aka vampire killer in her past.

The mystery was interesting and intriguing. We’re lead in one direction and then it takes us into another direction. I like miss directions and not having it be obvious what’s going on.

I also really liked the djinn cat. He was a lot of fun and added humor.

As for the ending. I had major issues with this. Maudlin has a confrontation with five evil bad vampires and instead of saving herself she has to be saved by her boyfriend. This didn’t jive with me. Especially when we learn about her past and know that she’s powerful.

All and all Bewitching Bedlam wasn’t for me and I won’t be reading on. If the blurb intrigues you, I urge you to give it a shot. Just because it did not work for me does not mean it won’t for you.

Galenorn weaves another magical tale that drops you in the cozy world of paranormal romance!

The book introduces Maddy Gallowglass--a witch that is starting a new life in a small cozy town in the pacific northwest. Joined by her super loyal (also a witch) best friend Sandy, a hot rockstar vampire lover Aegis and a kitty Cjinn (mix of genie and cat), Maddy's new start takes the reader on a fun mystery adventure.

Aegis' ex has it out for Maddy. She's jealous and one night a coven mate, who looks like Maddy, is found dead. As the gang investigates, the reader finds themselves getting deeper and deeper in Preternatural politics. Maddy has a tough decision to make, but ultimately she must play her new role to help protect her coven and town.

There's delicious food (the characters often have yummy meals together), steamy sex and a bit of humor in this book. I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who would enjoy a fun new paranormal romance or even urban fantasy story. Galenorn was able to have me feeling fully invested in the characters by the end of the story! Now I can't wait for the next book!

What a fun read! I love Aegis and the history we found out about him. I love the ghost Franny, and I adore Maudlin.

Yet another series that I am sure will keep my interest and keep me entertained. Yasmine Galenorn is a FABULOUS world builder! I can't wait to see what happens next in this series.

3.5 stars.

I did enjoy this story, but I wasn't super excited about it, I can't see why either.

The characters are enjoyable, and there was a bit of mystery which is nice.

I do believe I will continue with the series.

Bewitching Bedlam by Yasmine Galenorn is book 2 in her Bewitching Bedlam series. In this book we are reunited with Maudlin and Aegis as Maddy works to open her Bewitching Bedlam B&B. What Maddy doesn’t expect is all the trouble that quickly begins to crop up in various places for her. First there is Ralph Greyhoof who is not too keen on having some competition when it comes to business. Then a fellow coven member is found dead on Maddy’s property and the poor girl looks a lot like Maddy in the dark and it becomes believed that it was a case of mistaken identity in the dark that led to her untimely death. While suspicion falls on Ralph Maudlin does not think that he would be the type to do something this terrible. But there is also the added trouble of that a former lover of Aegis who has come back around with the intent of not only trying to get him back but stirring up some more trouble as well.
Bewitching Bedlam is an engaging story of where we learn quite a bit of the history concerning our various characters. We learn how Maddy earned the name Mad Maudlin and how she is feared by not only the vampires but many others as well all because of her history. She is truly a force to be reckoned with. We read how Maddy struggles with so many aspects of her life. She’s working to open her bed and breakfast but she never foresees the troubles that come in the form of Ralph and his brothers. There is so much mystery going on as Maddy tries to figure out what is going on with Ralph and why he is doing the things that he is doing from sneaking into her house trying to steal some of her hair to trying to bash her business into the ground before she can even open. Then there is the mystery of who murdered her coven mate and why because it really troubles Maddy especially when the semblance between the two women is seen.
I totally like how we see Maddy really grow in this story. When she initially sets out and moves to Bedlam her only intent really is to just get away from her ex, open a bed and breakfast and retake her life and finally begin to live again. There are really quite a few twists that you don’t see coming but it just adds to the story because as you begin to piece together that more trouble is afoot than you know another layer is added and it just goes deeper. We get to see Maddy really work to let go of her past but embrace it at the same time. She’s a really strong character and we really get to see that as she steps up in so many ways to do what must be done to survive.
Now for me there are a few points in the storytelling, of learning about the history of the town and other aspects, that I drifted off a bit but once I got past that and really got into the story it became a major page turner that was hard for me to put down. Maddy, Aegis, Sandy and Bubba are all such engaging characters that draw you in and they blend and work together so well that makes this book so enjoyable to read.
I am a huge fan of Yasmine Galenorn’s work and I truly loved this book. If I could have sat down and read the book front to back in one sitting I totally would. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of this author’s work or anyone who is looking for a good paranormal romance to dive into. This book gives you romance, mystery, danger, magic and so much more. This is a book worth picking up as the author once again delivers a dynamic book. This is a book that I will be adding to my collection in the very new future. Two thumbs up and five out of five stars. Well done.

Really enjoyed this book. It's one of those novels that are similar to YA novels with adult content. Its what I always go looking for in a book!
