The chemistry between Jane and Soren is soooo good. Their dynamic is very unique and refreshing to read about.

Love the mix with pirates and the world vibes. It's very intriguing.

Jane is such a spitfire! I love her energy and how she just wants to punch people.

Soren is such a softy for Jane. Love his protectiveness and the things that does in order to keep her safe.

Jacci Prior and Anthony Palmini did a fantastic job narrating this book. It's duet and with added sound effects.

THE SECRETS OF JANE is the first book in The Improper Bastards series and, if you're a fan of #Dark #Fantasy #Romance, then this is just the book for you.

Both the FMC and MMC are what you might call morally grey! Jane is certainly one to attack first and think later. Soren is more the one with the plan. That is, unless you touch something (or someone!) that belongs to him, and then all bets are off.

I loved Jane's history here and, whilst I don't fully understand the fuss, I'm looking forward to reading the next book to get the answers to my oh-so-many questions. The thing is, even with questions, I still enjoyed every single moment.

Not only do the supporting characters do their jobs incredibly well, but I'm also invested in them too. I'd Bones and Kathleen to have their story told. Anya, too. And Tempest. And… you get the idea. This is a world I'd love to return to and see just where the author takes me.

With an ending that will definitely leave you wanting more, I have no hesitation in HIGHLY recommending this book, and I can't wait until early 2024 to read the sequel!

The secrets of Jane is literally about the secrets of Jane. You have Jane, who is taken by Soren, a Zenith from skull row to bring her back to face the council. There are secrets and prophecies at play in the book. But the one thing we do know is Soren and Jane have their fates linked. Where she goes, he goes. No matter the distance.

I loved how she built Soren’s power. How he would always find her quite amazing.

Right from the get-go these two MCs have intense chemistry. It’s chaotic chemistry.

There is a plot in this book and I ate it up. There was so much happening I was fascinated. You have pirates, witches, sirens, gladiators, magic, twist and turns that have you wanting to finish the book. I read it in one sitting. It was delicious. Soren, a mercenary and an empath and Jane, a healer, put aside their differences to work together.

I have so many questions and the cliffhanger just brought out some more questions. Definitely reading book 2 for the answers.

I LOVED this book so much more than I expected to. The ambiance of Pirates of the Caribbean mixed with The Witcher. With the missing parent mystery and vibes of the Winchesters in Supernatural. Immediately ordered the 2nd book!

3.5 stars. I was interested in the storyline and surprised by the spice with plot but the book ended so abruptly. I know there’s more books coming in the series but I felt like the last third of the book nothing new came to light. It just dragged along in an effort to save some sort of storyline for the next book. It didn’t even really end on a cliff hanger to me since we knew about her dad from the MMC POV earlier on.
