I admit that I "read" the audiobook and did not pay it the attention this subject deserved due to feeling unwell and out of it. That said, this is a wonderfully poetic overview of parts of the history and present of physics. It's pretty accessible (for this subject) as well and created with the layman in mind. Quick and enjoyable. Rovelli is full of wonder and fascination with his subject.

Accessible and fascinating, but some of the science is way above my head. Great read.

Breaks down quantum theory and the history of discoveries that lead to this understanding of the universe.
Rovelli explains complex topics like particle physics with clear metaphors and non-technical language. While not all the concepts in the book totally "stuck," I find myself more learned and articulate on advanced physics ideas than I was before. And I think that's a big win.

I have read a lot of science books on the nature of physics and reality. This one has by far been my favorite. Rovelli eloquently ties physics and philosophy together to truly paint a picture of reality based on the state of information we have.

Read The Order of Time right before this and really enjoyed it, but I think reading this right after kind of diminished it a little - there’s a lot repeated and I felt like I’d already read part of the ‘answer’ to some of the open questions in this one. The Order of Time is also far more poetic and exploratory, which was what I was going to Rovelli for. This one is good, it’s a readable, short history with nice explanations and descriptions. Will recommend for sure. Just didn’t live up to his newer, better book!
