I get why this is so popular.

I’m caught up with the web comic, so my review/survey of the first volume may be a bit influenced by knowing how the story progresses, but this does not negate how much I love these characters, and I am so happy I was able to get my hands on a physical copy. But…. I may enjoy the tv show a bit more if I’m solely comparing the 2 mediums (season 1 v volume 1). The series delves so much more into the full cast of characters, so knowing that, I’ve rated it middle of the road since I know how much more charming and endearing the series becomes (yes, I’m including hindsight in a review).

While I've read all four of the graphic novels that are out (plus everything Alice has published to Webtoon), I'm only going to give my "review" on this one. Review has quotes around it because this is my "review":

EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THESE BOOKS BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST A BUNDLE OF JOY AND HAPPINESS AND HOPE AND LOVE AND ALL THINGS GOOD.

I read these following the passing of my kitty - one of the hardest weeks of my entire life - and they were the only things that brought a smile to my face. I will forever be thankful to Alice for writing such sweetness to help me through such a tough time.

The adaptation is also adorable and did a really great job following the story, for the most part! I could've done without Imogen or the added Tao debacle, but overall it was excellent!

I looove this graphic novel. It's such a sweet story but also deals with issues that are experienced by members of the LGBTQIA+ community on the daily. As a cis white woman I feel that there is more that can be done to educate people on being decent humans and more that can be done to ensure people in the LGBTQIA+ community are comfortable and offered equal opportunities and respect from their peers. Can't wait to read the next one ❤️

A heart-wrenching debut to a wonderful series, leaving me hungry for volume 2! Oseman's simplistic style helps the pages fly by as the great will-they-won't-they unfolds at Truman Grammar School for Boys.
