Such a good series. It was definitely happening the way you would expect it. It kind of lost the sound from the first book. Hopefully the third is better.

I think I like the first book better then this one, but I'm very much invested in tabby's story. As I black women a can relate with some of the struggles she goes thru. At time it exceed my expectations at other times it didn't. I wish tabby would stick up for herself and fight her battles. Ms, Gretchen is my favorite character, she is always going to get things real. Good read, read for the next installment of the series.

This book was just Meh. Every incident she experienced and could have highlighted in this book was graced over. If not for the description of Tab I honestly I would have pictured white passing. Moreover than showing a strong independent black woman it portrayed timid and insecure. Everyone else stood up and pushed her into the things she "thought" she wanted to bring awareness to.

It was heartwarming to reconnect to Tabatha, Alexis, Ms. Gretchen, and Laila. It was an overall a story that can resonate with a lot of black women.
When I first started reading the book, I noticed it was a lot shorter than the first book. And it wasn’t until I realized I was at the end that I felt how short the book was because there was so much unresolved.
For starters, Tabatha was Tabatha. Nothing too much changed about her except well she was pregnant! This was the central focus of the story  along with her relationship with Marc. The ending however leaves many questions with that. I will say I wasn’t a fan of Marc starting this book and I went back in forth throughout this book on my opinion of him. I’ll say I don’t dislike him as much but I’m still not TeamMarc.
I will say I loved how the book touched on natural hair! As a naturalista myself, I could relate to it so much! Whether it was natural hair in the workplace or questioning how your natural hair forms your identity and how people see you. I felt so seen for a lot of this book!
And Ms. Gretchen had me cackling as usual! I definitely will be reading the next book in the series to see how everything plays out.

Sigh

I enjoyed the book but it left me with so many questions and wanting so much. This book was a little empty not like the first but I still enjoyed the story and connecting with the familiar characters once again. I love love love this series and I'm waiting for the follow-up. The book just ended so abruptly.
