This was such a perfect version of what it needed to be. I got on with it better than THUG #1, maybe this was because I listened to the audio? Would definitely recommend that as this was the first book i didnt find irritating when a character sang, as i heard it rather than read it

Loved the ending and the plot lines focused on Bri's family and her "come up" as a rapper. I found the narrative sections dealing with her school and relationships to be less interesting. At times the plot lines felt pretty disconnected and like they could almost be separate stories. I'm not the target audience, though. The YA dating - romance didn't quite keep me entertained as well as Thomas's first book.

The beginning started off a little slow- it took me a couple of chapters to get into it. Once it picked up it become a pretty fast read.

Did not expect to love this book as much as I did! I cried so many times, way more then I can count honestly. The characters were written realistically which I appreciate so much. Gotta watch the movie now

Great follow up to the hate you give. Everything this author is writing is just honestly super important and the storytelling is great!

I’ve loved every one of Angie Thomas’ books and this one is no exception. Great stand alone novels tied together in the heart of Garden Heights universe.

The hype for Angie Thomas's second novel is real. If you loved her first novel, get your hands on her second. She is an author every junior and senior high school should stock in their library with multiple copies.
