Started with the prequel and kept going because who doesn't want more sexy mages and werewolves throwing themselves at each other!

I thought it was going to be all sex and light on story based on the first half, but it switches and slows down to savor the relationships developing through the main plot in the second half. It may seem like it's all smutt and little substance but the "best selling author" really comes through when things get serious. I really really enjoyed the deep conversations in the back half and marked them for the future when I need a character to tell me it's going to be okay. I certainly couldn't think to respond to people with those words, so I was impressed.

It's really nice to have queer characters you love in such a lengthy series. Each book is having me eager to see how the pack is doing and who's going to get bedded next! Woof!

So cute, I love them! Could use a little more world building, but such a sweet story~

I adore this author. I read everything she writes that I can get my hands on. No one combines wit, snark, and romance like Gail Carriger.
Note: I have read this as both digital book and audiobook several times. I adore both. Ms. Carriger always seems to find the best narrators and makes my commute to and from work much more entertaining.

Hab etwas gebraucht um reinzukommen, mit all den neuen Begriffen, aber wenn man die mal halbwegs hat, ist es ein echt nettes Buch.

I was entertained by the audio of this book, I would rate it higher if I wasn't so lost on the technicalities of the storyline almost the entire time.

2020: I love this book so much- Max is just the best!

Reread bc I need good books.

I hadn’t written a review before for this series, and won’t now either, only it’s an amazingly balanced shifter- omegaverse- non mpreg book - series which can read only in order, with great characters, smut and sweetness, good writing and interesting plot ☺️

It would have been a kinder gift to myself to DNF, but alas. I finished it anyways. This was bad with the barest, smallest kernel of wasted potential at the heart of it all. Just … nope.

Really well strung together, both character and story-wise, with *far* more connectedness than I expected.

Having read several other Carriger books now, I can say with confidence that I was disappointed in this one. However, I don’t think it’s so much that the book was intrinsically unsatisfactory, as I had high hopes for it, especially since one of my favorite pairings from her previous books was an MM pairing. As always, the world building was very creative, and if you’ve read “The Parasol Protectorate” series, this book is an interesting, and in some ways, unexpected, extension of that, but for whatever reason, the characters, and the romance between them, fell flat for me.
