I reread this book every summer if I can. The dark humor and reflections on death and living hit different now I live on an island. Everything more pointed, and yet outside of time. Relationships real and exposed, including the island itself. I love this book.

the introduction added a good bit of value. the book itself wasn’t super compelling for me, but it was interesting

Not a bad book at all, quite relaxing after a while. It wasn't what I was expecting but that's on me for not reading up on it before I started. But after a while I got into it. It's a quiet, light-hearted book that feels quite relaxing and has moments of humour. Gives Anne of Green Gables vibes in terms of storytelling and the characterisations of Sophia and Grandmother. 
Overall a good book!
