In book two of the Bunnicula series, Howliday Inn we follow Harold and Chester as they embark on a new adventure after the Monroe family decides to take a summer vacation.

Unable to take Harold and Chester with them the family have to drop them off at a kennel called Chateau Bow-Wow. Once there they meet a bunch of new characters with different quirky personalities.

The problem is they find out the owner of the kennel, Dr. Greenbriar, is off work leaving them in the hands of his helpers Jill and Harrison who seem rather inexperienced and incapable of taking care of themelves let alone a kennel of animals. Soon after arriving mysterious things start happening raising suspicions from Chester and Harold thus causing them investigate the incidents and getting themselves into trouble.

Another funny little adventure written with great writing and enjoyable plot and characters.

In this book James Howe introduces us to a handful of new characters with all unique personalities that make a fun addition to the story. I thought that it was paced well and had a ending that wasn't wrapped up too quickly as the previous book.

The story didn't include Bunnicula but luckily Harold and Chester is enough to make me want to continue reading the books.

I also liked the illustrations better in this specific book than the previous Bunnicula book.

I'll definitely be continuing the series :)

I was looking for a short, lighter book and this was on hand. It was fun to read about what happens at the pet boarding when the humans go on vacation. I must say this was a very dramatic stay, but Harold and Chester seem to be surrounded by it. I had a feeling
Spoiler that Harrison was stealing the dogs for some reason, but I wasn't sure why. Also the puppies sounded so cute.
Again I loved reading about the stereotypical animals and this time there was a quirky mix of cats and dogs.

This is a children's book about a dog who cheats on his dog wife and then asks his dog friend about how to kill her when she complains. It's a terrible misogynistic nightmare. Also, it's slow and boring, which is just wild.

This book dragged on and on and on. I finally skipped all paragraphs that didn't move the plot along, plus about the last ten pages. I ended with, "then the family came and picked them up and they were all very happy." And my kids bought it. We are done with this series.

Enjoyed reading this with my boys-8, 6, and 3.

I continued my now tradition of reading a Bunnicula book for Halloween! This one wasn't as much fun as the original, but it was fun to go to a new place and face new fears. Any adventure with Harold and Chester is one worth taking in my opinion.
