Look man, the old bastard has still got it. It's nothing new to say that I am always so happy that I can pick up a new Stephen King book and have a great time.
I love his story telling so much but man when it takes place in 2021 and a college student says his friend was "trying to score some dope" and then an 18 year old African American girl talks about a Bob Dylan documentary she just watched, you gotta laugh at the old bastard trying his best.
I get why he loves Holly, she let's him do something he doesn't really get to do in a lot of his stories, create a character with a group of friends that love her and support her, that let her grow and change and constantly reminder her of the good that's out there. By no means is this a happy story, it's got a damn good hook in it that was pure Stephen King, but there's this really strong thread of Human Goodness triumphing throughout all of Holly's stories that give these books a different zest than I normally get from his writing.
I really do think when he's writing Holly's stories, he adjusts his prose to match her and i enjoy that a lot.
