A blend of mystery, thriller, and a touch of horror. King lets the characters wander through a Covid affected city. It's no surprise there is commentary related to that time, and it should be no surprise regarding King's perspective. The story culminates to a satisfying conclusion.

Stephen King is nothing if not a consistent 3 star read. It’s clever and exciting. His prose can be cheesy and there are a few too many characters that seem to exist for the sake of connecting this book to others. Overall, it was slightly more enjoyable than some of my other Stephen King 3 star books.

Stephen King’s novel Holly, written during Covid and taking place in 2021, uses some of the politics of 2020-2021 as a backdrop, but not distractingly so. The book moves between present and past, and the reader knows more information than the main character Holly for a while. It is frustrating in a sense, because Holly didn’t act how I wanted her to all the time, but I enjoyed the thriller and mystery. Well-written and inspired by the horrors of what the mind can lead one to do, I highly recommend this book to any lover of mystery, thrillers, and Stephen King.
