A strange, yet beautiful story of the trials of friendship. Dark at times, and mysterious. I had hoped for a little bit more but the romantic relationships and ending pulled most of the story nicely together.

I adored this read. Read it! Very similar feel to The Secret History. There a many major differences, but I feel if you like one you'll like the other.

At first I didn't like it too much but as it progressed I loved it. I was almost crying at the ending.

the last 70 pages and the macbeth scene earned this an extra star. tbh i hate shakespeare and i feel stupid when i read it and can’t understand it. so reading this book felt like watching someone tell me i’m an idiot for 400 pages. however, the dramatics of it all were fabulous. i may not understand shakespeare but i can understand the play like dynamic the book followed and the linking of these characters to those of shakespeare. was it as good as the secret history? absolutely not. was it fleshed out with perfect timing? also no but i feel like part of that was due to the constraints of it being written like a play. which, did i mention, i also hate plays. i think if i liked plays and shakespeare this would be a 6 star read.
