A pleasant read, but the plot armor over the entire story gets a little distracting. Oh thank goodness! These societies are structured in such a specific way so as to fill all the holes in the plot!! Antagonists make convenient choices at convenient times! Not bad, but not dazzling.

I’m glad I read this, but I didn’t like it as much as I did the first book. I saw the movie after, so I was able to visualize the characters as their actors. But I’m glad this one wasn’t a movie, because it would have been super gross to watch. I don’t want to know what slurry looks like, or the gross outcomes of the “war.”
