While I truly enjoyed the first book of the Camel Club series, the ending became rather "Hollywoodish" for my tastes, and as a result, I felt I had to downgrade my rating (I'm still torn between 4 and 4 and 1/2 stars). Regardless, if you enjoy the Espionage and Intrigue Genre, you would most likely find the book to be gripping and fast-paced throughout, with interesting characters, and a well-developed story line. As usual Mr. Baldacci's writing is top notch, and if the ending had not been so fantastical, it could well have been a 5 star read.

Dated but interesting. I like Baldacci and thrillers; this one kept me guessing (usually incorrectly) right to the end. I liked the good guys and found at least some of the bad guys complicated.

I'm back at it with audio from the library this time. Yes, I own the series in hard cover and look at the spines regularly but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to listen to it! I enjoyed Jonathan Davis but with so many critical male characters, another narrator or two would've made it just that much more awesome to listen to.
Oliver, Rueben, Caleb, Milton, Alex, and those around them have never been safer, or in more danger, than when they get hot on a trail. I love all of the twists, turns, and nuances as they work to unravel the tangle of lies and deception that they've stumbled into.
While it's scary to think about something like this happening, even twenty years post-9/11 this story remains relevant.

Whenever I have trouble wading through another Robert Ludlum plot just to get to the rich pay off, I will remember this book and how annoyingly bad it was. It's a poor imitation of the Clancy/Ludlum mold. Baldacci's legal thrillers are not bad. He should stick to those.

First in a series and second book I've read but David Baldacci. Not a winner I'm afraid. It was decent, middly entertaining but I'm no eager to continue on with the camel club series

The great description that the author uses to describe the characters is astounding. He makes you feel as if you know these characters and they are your friends as well. The loose ends are all tied up and it brings a great ending to a very good book.
