A great book which explores a family dynamic being changed instantly due to a car accident.

Beth goes from someone who can do whatever whenever she wants with little responsibility to suddenly becoming a parent like figure to her niece and nephew.

A great strength of this book is the complicated relationship which is explored between parents and their children which I think many will find relatable: a parent who seems impossible to impress and a parent who supports you implicitly.

I loved the relationship between Beth and Albert.

The riff between Polly and Beth for me felt too strung out and I was disappointed that Emmy’s condition was skimmed over.

A lot of the plot felt predictable and I felt like this could’ve been completed in less pages with certain aspects of the plot given unnecessary detail where as key features such as Emmys condition and Jory/Beth’s relationship not delved in to deep enough.
