this is by FAR, the worst book in the steampunk chronicles series, and the worst novella as well. Its has no real plot, and the plot that it does have is a vehicle for "look at how cool wildcat is, we are back to having one character of colour", Cat was very clear in clockwork collar that she didn't want to get back with Jasper, and that's good!!! her character should not have been dragged across the ocean for a few pages of trauma porn about her poor upbringing and being 'othered' by her catlike traits written to absolve the author of lingering feelings of guilt for making Mei the bad guy in clockwork collar, just stick this plot back in with the rest of Iron Touch, and remove the weird fetishistic wording around Cats blackness and her animalistic traits. (hey Kady Cross, making the ONE black person in your book the person who is most outwardly "altered" from the ore, is not a good look mkay?)

The Wild Adventure of Jasper Renn was an adorable addition to the Steampunk Chronicles. Jasper Renn is such a lovable character it's hard not to enjoy anything involving him.

Then he realized what a pathetic request that was, and he wished for a sandwich, because he was hungry and tired of feeling sorry for himself.

The story actually takes place during The Girl with the Iron Touch which was incredibly interesting for me. Normally novellas/short stories are before and after, but Kady Cross places you back into the main novel to see another point of view.

If you like The Steampunk Chronicles or steampunk/romance/paranormal in general I'd definitely recommend The Wild Adventure of Jasper Renn.

Another quick read for an interstitial story. I'm sort of sad that there is only one more book left at the moment. These characters are so interesting, fun, and different. Plus the steampunk setting is nicely fleshed out and really cool, to be honest.

This one felt much more like the Steampunk Chronicles! I love Jasper and Wildcat and reading about them and their relationship felt so good. It sucked me right into the story of their search for Wildcats sister Sparrow.

I love the references to the main books!

Nothing super exciting about this little novella. It just explained what happened when Jasper and Cat were gone during The Girl With the Iron Touch.

This was my least favorite in the series so far.

The plot was pretty shallow and not very well developed. The book just seemed like an excuse to write romantic scenes between Jasper and Cat, which were kind of cheesy and awkward.

This one was okay, but as good as previous books and prequels.
