Not my kind of book. It was kinda boring. It was sweet in a way though.

This was a really charming romance with a fun supporting cast and a sweet, stubborn heroine that I really enjoyed.

This was a fun and sweet regency romance. It starts out when our heroine, is desperate to save her fathers book shop, and she is offered a 100 pounds in exchange for kissing a lord in public. A kiss...really easy right? Well somehow she ends up liking this stranger and that one kiss is one hell of a kiss and changed her forever. When she loses her shop over the scandal, she is offered a job to be a lady's companion and she is having to work with constantly. the love story between these two is sweet and heartwarming, but I had a problem really connecting with the love story. The characters were unique and interesting and they really were what won me over with One Scandalous Kiss.

At least fifty pages could have been edited out...

The way the book started out and the next few chapters, I thought for sure I would give this book five stars. Sometime during reading I took it down to four and finished it a three.

After that first kiss, for pages and pages from time to time we are listening to the H&H drone on and on in their heads about the way they feel and that kiss. It got to be maddening! I felt I was hit over the head with it several times.

I felt it lacked action, and I too, as another reviewer said felt too teased throughout the book. All they do is talk about the kiss or almost kiss. Bah!! I think maybe around the 62% portion of the book is when they finally fall into bed but to me I was bored and listless then and felt no chemistry between the characters at all. It's too bad. I could have been a five-star book.

If you like a really slow burn....

I'm divided about this book. On the one hand, I loved the main characters, Lucius and Jessamin. From the first kiss to the near end is an exercise of taunt expectation. The author did a great job of stoking the sexual tension. On the other hand, I grew frustrated with the plot coming to a standstill with too numerous inward musings. It sacrificed for dialogue. Also, too many loose threads were left unanswered. Why was Lucius banished as a child? Why did his father hate him so? What is the explanation for his parent's love/hate relationship? I would have preferred more attention on these questions than the eternal inward, repetitive musings.

One Scandalous Kiss was a historical romance filled with longing, and which finds our hero and heroine on the cusp of taking charge of their lives instead of simply enduring their due diligence.

Set in 1890, this story was a Victorian era romance that brought into it the changes appearing in England at the time. My favorite difference between this and a Regency was that Jessamin was a suffragette. It was so nice to see a woman standing up for herself and her rights in an intelligent manner, with the men around her actually listening to what she had to say. Especially Lucius. He was not a typical aristo. He was forward-thinking, believing in equality between men and women as well as between social classes. Loved that!
