I think this is an absolute genius idea! A graphic novel full of short stories all revolving around one idea or theme! It's perfect for kids of all ages and is so creative! My favourite story was definitely 'The Keeper's Treasure'.

I loved this, very short short and enjoyable stories. The art is wonderful, if you enjoy the Amulet series you might enjoy this too!

Some definite gems in here: The Escape Option by Kazu Kibuishi and Whatzit by Johane Matte were my two favourites. I wish I could get a poster of the full Escape Option sequence!

This was a fun and quick journey through the minds of eight different author/illustrators briefed to tell a story about a mystery box. 'The Keeper's Treasure' and 'The Escape Option' had the most beautiful artwork and the most engaging stories too. I wish the stories had been a bit longer (just as I was getting into one, it would end), but it's a good taster for exploring the longer works of many of the contributors.

I love Kazu Kibuishi both as a writer/artist and as the editor of several graphic novel short story collections. The Explorer series is a wonderful concept; pick a topic (like "a mysterious box") and ask different artists to come up with a short story. Each Explorer collection features several short graphic novels and the reader gets exposed to unique art styles and story telling styles. This is a great way to find new graphic novel artists.

Not as good as "Islands," but still wonderful.

This anthology is one filled with short stories about a magic box of some sort. My favourite was Spring Cleaning by Dave Roman and Raina Telgemeier because it was like a your stereotypical kids' fantasy story, The Keeper's Treasue by Jason Caffoe for its great irony, and The Butter Thief because it was unique in its art style and story.

I read this book just for the Emily Carroll story, which I liked - the rest of the collection wasn't for me.

This collection of short stories in graphic novel format was a lot of fun and introduced me to some great artists/writers. I loved that all seven stories had the same basic concept (a mysterious box) but that each author took this in a totally different direction. The artists all had their own distinct style but all used vibrant, engaging colours that made this a pleasure even just to look at, let alone read.
