Started off so good, but then once it was all explained, it got to be pretty boring, so the last 1/3 really dragged for me.

I didn't really care about any of the characters. I found Bailey to be very obnoxious.

The US Marshall, Grady, is introduced like he'll play a bigger role, but then...he doesn't. He supposedly has all this information about Owen, but never reveals any of it. He is very much trying to get Hannah and Bailey into witness protection at the end, to the point it seemed like he had a vested interest, but then...nothing comes of it. We are told several times that Owen did bad, horrible things, but we never find out what any of those things are. Hannah throws away her whole life for her two year old marriage, to a guy who lied about his whole life.

If Owen was so interested in protecting Bailey, why not bring her with him? It didn't make sense. The bit at the end was kinda stupid also, how she briefly sees him at the convention.

I didn't enjoy this book. It was good up until it was revealed what Owen's secrets were and why he was doing what he did.

Unsatisfying ending, but it will probably grow on me iover the next few days.

This was more of a 4.5 for me. It was a struggle in some parts as the story seemed to get drawn out a bit much in areas. And I had to reread the pages that explained who Owen really was…it wasn’t clear to me the first time through. The ending was kind of predictable too. Overall, though, I did enjoy the book.

Ouch, my heart. This book really does a good job of playing the ups and downs of parenthood. The book is mostly about the evolution of the struggling relationship between the stepmother and daughter. It really hooked me from the beginning, but I understand why so many people gave it 3 stars because it did leave me wanting a little more. I thing being a new mother left me relating a bit more to the characters, which brought my rating up a bit. And sometimes books shouldn’t be about the most shocking thing happening because sometimes things should be a bit more realistic. I’m obviously conflicted, haha.
