This book is exactly what it bills itself to be: a biography for new readers. Though its 64 pages did not reveal anything new about the primatologist and animal rights activist, I am sure it will be a revelation for many students in elementary school, which is why, as a teacher, I will be purchasing a copy for my classroom library. I loved the illustrations that accompany the text, but my favorite feature was the questions in the "Jump in the Think Tank" inserts. They inspire reflection in ways that are meaningful to any student, not just those who admire or wish to emulate Goodall.

A great biography for beginning readers, featuring discussion questions throughout, a timeline at the end of each chapter, maps, a glossary of words and terms used, a quiz, a bibliography, and lovely illustrations that accent the text well. Jane Goodall is an excellent, inspirational choice for a children's biography, and I'm sure her work will interest many youngsters!

Thanks NetGalley for the chance to review this book! My 8 year old daughter is a big Jane Goodall fan, so I couldn't resist the chance to read this concise, early chapter book biography.

I really enjoyed this. The text was easy to understand, and I could envision teachers and parents reading this aloud with ease. I especially liked the extra features, including the glossary, "think tank" questions for further inquiry, timelines, and annotated maps. The extra features did not distract from the story at all and certainly enhanced my reading of it. I would definitely recommend this book.
