Delightful

Pardon my fresh language: I heckin’ love this book! And I think I may have a teeny tiny, almost nonexistent, hardly worth mentioning really, crush on Chris. He is a remarkable individual and should have his own small-town festival day to celebrate the true treasure he is.

“I wanted you from the minute you got in my car, smelling like vanilla and lime.” He pressed his forehead to mine, and his hands traced down my arms so he could link our fingers together. “I couldn’t keep my eyes off you. I could barely keep my hands off you. I see you, Chris. Right now, you’re all I see.”

Full of small town magic, laugh out loud humor, swoony swoops and feels, and characters too good to be true but that’s why we fall so hard for them, Copper County and this book pull you in like a soft and soothing hug scented like vanilla and pine. I adored the premise, the cameos, the adventures, and most of all the enigmatic Reed Sunday and ever charming Chris. There is nothing pretend about how much I love, love, love this book!

I love silly May Archer and this is silly as silly gets. So silly. So fun. But also with a little intrigue too so fun times are had by everyone.

I honestly found myself getting frustrated at how stupid and naive Chris was. To the point where I kinda wanted to stop reading, but it was like a car crash you can't look away from?

Reed is definitely my least favourite Sunday brother - we barely find out anything about him, we only see one interaction with his family, and his entire job just felt off.

The whole crime families with a rivalry and the protective custody thing also felt ridiculously far fetched and I just couldn't connect to these characters at all.

My favourite thing was probably the endless talk about charcuterie boards

if you told me i’d actually properly hate this i wouldn’t have believed you

Chris & Reed

I LOVED this book. I am so glad I bought it when I saw it and jumped right in. Chris needs to be protected at all costs he is sweet and precious.
He is clueless and so trusting, he is very likeable you just want to be around him.

There were some silly misunderstandings and usually, that would drive me batty, but I loved it. I don’t know why I just did.

Reed, oh, Reed he doesn’t know what he is getting into when it comes to Chris, and he is about to fall hard. I was so very here for it! How do you protect someone who doesn’t know they need protecting and doesn’t believe you're just doing your job?

I loved the small town! I need more asap!
The narration from Michael Dean was perfect too.

Chris and Reed are just hilarious together. Chris is a sweetheart but he is also a clumsy mess and a bit too good hearted for his own good. Reed is stoic and tries so hard not to feel anything. But meeting Chris and being his protective agent awakes something in him and he starts to believe in a life with love. The way we end up in Copper County is just gold and meeting all of these amazing side characters made it even more enjoyable to read.

May has created a storyline that keeps you hooked. It's funny and romantic but also a bit sad and in places a bit unhinged just like the TV show John Ruffain: Pretender, which is mentioned quite a bit in the book.

The book is steamy but that is not what is important, the relationship between the main characters and also the friendships they form with the others in Copper County are.

This is the perfect book to read snuggled up in your favorite spot. It is a fast read that leaves you wanting more. All in all it is a heartwarming story about two people meeting under “interesting” circumstances and how they criss-cross their way to love.
