Firstly, thanks to @Orbitbook_us for providing me with an ARC of Cyberpunk 2077: No Coincidence via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of the book.

This book is a tough one for me to review in all honesty. For the first 40-50% of the book I was all but certain my review would have a more critical tone than I think it will end up having. So, with that in mind I’ll start with what I don’t love about the book.

The biggest thing for me that I didn’t always enjoy is perhaps also one of the things I enjoyed the most about the book in certain situations. The book is told in several different points of view, switching between characters rapidly, even every paragraph occasionally. This made the book feel very long in sequences where less was going on. However, this same thing plays REALLY well when there is a lot of action or combat happening.

This book really steps it up about halfway through, so maybe it (for me) was just a slow burn!

I think that the characters introduced to us here are interesting enough on their own, but they really shine in scenes where they are working together to achieve something.

I think if you like a sci-fi environment with a bit of mystery and intrigue, as well as some solid action sequences this is a book you should definitely check out!

Although, in my opinion this maybe shouldn’t jump too far ahead of anything you are really looking forward to reading!

As for a rating, I feel good giving it 3/5 stars. The second half of the book bumps the books score up significantly for me.

Thanks again to @orbitbooks_us for the opportunity to review this book early!

This book was for sure written by having players of the game in mind. i don't think you will enjoy it if yoy've never touched the game. the way too frequent change of pov can be very challenging and thus feeling attached to the characters sadly comes short but if you're a fan of the game and night city you should definitely give it a try.

As a fan of the game I did enjoy it, but it’s far too busy and convoluted (especially towards the end). Narration of the audiobook is great, though.

This is my first foray in to audiobooks and it did not disappoint! Cyberpunk 2077 is one of my favorite games and I love the world and setting in Night City. This book perfectly replicates the atmosphere of NC and feels like a side mission straight out of the game. There were dry parts, especially around the more technical side of net-running but the action more than made up for it.

The whole reason I decided to give this audiobook a listen was because my all time favorite voice actor Cherami Leigh was reading it! She voiced female V in the game and is a prolific voice actor. This allowed her to give every character a distinct and unique voice which left no confusion as to who was speaking during the story.
SpoilerBorg was one of my favorite characters simply because of the choices Cherami made when reading his sections, it's a shame he had to die so early in the story.

I need Cherami to do more audiobooks soon, that was a hell of way to end 2023 on a high!

If you like the world of Cyberpunk 2077 enough to be interested in a novel set there, definitely read this.

Otherwise, I think you might struggle with the obvious elements of the plot and some of the novel’s other shortcomings.
