Firstly, thanks to @orbitbooks_us for providing me with an ARC of Cyberpunk 2077: No Coincidence via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of the book.
This book is a tough one for me to review in all honesty. For the first 40-50% of the book I was all but certain my review would have a more critical tone than I think it will end up having. So, with that in mind I’ll start with what I don’t love about the book.
The biggest thing for me that I didn’t always enjoy is perhaps also one of the things I enjoyed the most about the book in certain situations. The book is told in several different points of view, switching between characters rapidly, even every paragraph occasionally. This made the book feel very long in sequences where less was going on. However, this same thing plays REALLY well when there is a lot of action or combat happening.
This book really steps it up about halfway through, so maybe it (for me) was just a slow burn!
I think that the characters introduced to us here are interesting enough on their own, but they really shine in scenes where they are working together to achieve something.
I think if you like a sci-fi environment with a bit of mystery and intrigue, as well as some solid action sequences this is a book you should definitely check out!
Although, in my opinion this maybe shouldn’t jump too far ahead of anything you are really looking forward to reading!
As for a rating, I feel good giving it 3/5 stars. The second half of the book bumps the books score up significantly for me.
Thanks again to @orbitbooks_us for the opportunity to review this book early!

a good read for if you want more of the cyberpunk universe because you definitely need to know the universe in order to understand pieces of it. it can get a bit confusing as the author jumps around from different povs without explaining who is who until halfway into the pov. also some pieces that were irrelevant (the weird posts at the beginning of chapters) and then a lot of the pieces of the book explaining tech or cyberspace were odd. it’s a great expansion on the universe though.
personally i enjoyed the characters as well but the end felt very lack luster and felt very “what was the point?” which may have been the point?? not sure. i enjoyed zor’s character as well as ron.
ALSO the author seemed to have attempted some romance and OMG I’m so sorry but he fits into the “science fiction authors are virgins” category because it was so dry and immediately rushed.. all the romances had no connections and all rushed to awkward sex scenes. just a warning because it gave me second hand embarrassment.
ps, the word “fucksicle” is used around 5-6 times in this book sooo do with that information what you want

Decent book. The references and being able to read something set in this universe was definitely a big selling point. And the overall heist aspect was okay enough. The characters were alright but there was a lot of them and I didn’t really connect with any except maybe 1 or 2.

A layered yet not-too-difficult read in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. It has a broad spectrum of character persona ity types that gives minimal hints to individual ethnicities. It has a twist ending that is sure to beat you up a little and make you think.

I loved Cyberpunk2077 but this book was so bad. The amount of misogynistic writing. incredible. The plot was very convoluted, the ending very unsatisfying and underwhelming, none of the characters were likeable, it hit very few themes of what makes the cyberpunk genre so interesting to me, so the only reason i gave it this rating at all was because of cherami leigh doing an out of this world job reading the shit out of this… shit.
