I have spent quite some time watching my husband play Cyberpunk 2077 and became invested in V’s story. I love the storylines in the game & it has sparked many conversations between us. I HAD to request this one when I saw it pop up.
Corps won’t hesitate for a second to blow an entire hood into orbit if it’ll widen their profit margin. Then they’ll act all sad an’ shit, send their fuckin’ prayers while they pin the blame on whoever pissed them of last.
The POV transitions were a bit of a struggle for me – jumping around between several of them sometimes in one single chapter made it a little hard to follow. I prefer clean chapter POV splits – if that was done in this book it’d make the chapters really small though. A different font choice for each POV would be fun but probably a pain. As the book unspooled, I enjoyed learning more about each character. Their backgrounds and why they thought they were chosen and then learning why they were actually chosen at the end was something I wasn’t expecting.
Having a variety of Night City citizen POV’s was interesting & you got to see different walks of life through their eyes. The only one that was a little difficult to get into as the story progressed was Albert. From what I gathered while reading, this book takes place after the events in the game since the Relic is known & the fates of crossover characters.
If you’re not familiar with the game at all this book could be a struggle to understand. I did enjoy the characters that were a crossover from the game. There may be some crossover from the anime as well but I haven’t watched it yet.
I would like to thank Orbit Books for the chance to read this book about one of my favorite games to watch & my husband’s to play. It was an exciting and crazy ride the whole time – just like the game. All opinions are my own.

Overall this is a pretty decent cyberpunk 2077 novel, I just had a hard time following all the perspective changes and the characters were hard to connect with. If you enjoy the game or the Night City setting, there’s some enjoyment to be had in the dark future!
