A book about Philippa before she meets Tommy Wynchester is honestly kind of depressing. Still cute tho.

“First rule of Wynchester,” said Chloe. “Do it anyway.”

Okay, this was freaking adorable; I liked it a fair bit more than the first novella in this series. It follows one of the heroines of the next book (and if you squint you'll spot the other heroine! :D) and she and her little society of bluestockings as they enlist the help of the Wynchesters to track down a piece of stolen jewellery. I love a group of Badly Behaved Women, and I really liked the dynamic of Phillipa's little reading group and all their banter with each other. The recurring bit about the name of the group was genuinely funny to me; I loved it. The hijinks surrounding their quest to bring this rake to justice were really engaging. All in all: great set up for the next book, and I'm super excited for Phillipa and Tommy's story. <3

3.5. This was cute but kinda boring and didn’t really do much as a prequel to book 2! There was a little bit of romantic tension which was cute, and of course I love the bluestockings and the Wynchesters. Just didn’t seem to add too much to the series.

I received this book as a goodreads giveaway

I have enjoyed the Dukes of War series and like this story of the Heist club meeting the Wynchesters. Delightful novella.

A fun little novella that I believe I picked up during a “stuff your Kindle” (or in my case, a Kobo) day. The Winchesters are quite a batch of characters. I didn’t realize where this fell in the book series but I would not be opposed to returning to Book 1 and following up with Book 2, since this bridges the two.
