I really struggled to get into this one, but by the end I was fully invested in the outcome.

The first 50ish pages felt like I was was being given an uninvited education in Egyptology, and throughout the book there were sprinklings of this too. But I have always loved the way Jodi Picoult writes and her concepts, so I stuck with it and I'm glad that I did.
Definitely not my favourite of her books, but definitely worth a read if you are a fan of her work (or of Egyptology!).

A fantastic book of discovery and finding yourself with a very clever narrative structure to truly capture the reader. I was hooked to this from page one, loved the direction the story took and also really enjoyed that it talked about Egyptology too which was really interesting. This book talks a lot about death, so it certainly isn't a light read, but it really makes you want to take control of your life and seize the day!

This book involved romance, however, it was more following a woman's journey through the acceptance of what her life turned out to be, when she wasn't planning to endure any of what she went through. She looks back on what she could have been if she stuck to her original plan. Accurately looks into the difficulties of marriage, even "good" ones.
