Thank you to the authors that gave us the gift of another taste of the HP universe. HP lovers will enjoy nostalgic references to the other books and the familiar charm of our beloved characters. While it's not as detailed as I'd hoped, and while the plot seems to have a few holes in it, I had to remind myself that this is not a book, it is a play. However, if you're a die-hard fan you won't mind these frustrations and you'll soak up every beautiful minute that you have with these characters. I can't wait to see this performed.
medium-paced
I hate how this play seems to ignore many basic facts established in the original books, such as the fact there are no more time turners and ruins a lot of the development of the characters. I especially hate how Harry is portrayed seeing Albus being sorted into Slytherin as a negative and the two of them having a strained relationship when I cannot see Harry ever acting that way with his own children after the treatment he endured growing up.
I think that whoever wrote this play ( I know it is not J.K Rowling) totally forgot that in Ootp they destroyed all of the time-turners. Yet somehow, Hermione still has one. I mean like at the end of Poa she gave hers back because she thought that it was a huge responsibility on her.
I was no big fan of this story. I never really enjoyed the time-turning parts of the original story, partly because it seems really really improbable that a time-turner would have been given to a third year student to be able to take a lot of classes, but mainly because time-turning opens up too many possibilites for changing everything, and it makes it difficult to keep the story together. How things can have happened and not yet happened att the same time, it doesn't make sense to me. Now this Harry Potter and the Cursed Child story was based completely on time-turning, and I just don't buy that some things change while not others when you go back in time and alter things. Altering time just a little bit would change everything, considering that the chance that a specific individual exists is extremely small, and even changing a small thing in two people's past would make it improbable that exactly the same sperm would hit exactly the same egg ten years or so after the time-changing.
Since I don't like time-turning, there was not so much for me to like about this book. But even if I put aside the fact that I don't like the storyline, I still think it's not as thought through as the other books, and not as well written. It's filled with clichés and the characters don't really work for me.
The only thing I really liked was the reflection of how many people had to suffer and die for the cause of destroying Voldemort. In the seventh book there were so many deaths that it was hard to mourn them all. But here you get some sense of how it's been for the survivers living without all these people with the knowledge that others died where they lived.
On the plus side is that it has a flow in its language and it was easy to read quickly (especially important when ypu don't like the story, it passes quickly :P).

I have not seen one Harry Potter Movie, but I am highly considering binging the 22-ish hour marathon for the series. I have read every book and am very excited for this movie to come out. I liked seeing the continuation of the story and being able to see where everyone ends up. I also quite enjoyed the time travel and its effects aspect within this story. I feel like it was done very well.
I think this is the best extended epilogue we could ever hope for. It's seriously the greatest thing to happen in awhile.
Now I really want to see the stage play. Like really really want to see it. I want to see how they pull off some of the magic. Like polyjuice potion?! That would be great to see pulled off on stage!

Ay Dios mío! Tres años he tardado en leerlo!
♥️♥️

I have trouble believing the guy who wrote this script actually read the Harry Potter books. I am surprised J.K. was willing to put her name on this story that ignores canon.
I was so satisfied with how the original series ended I was a bit reluctant to read this. But as someone who loves the characters and grew up with them I had to know what this was about. I felt like while this was a nice visit to a familiar home, to me it didn't add any more to the story than the epilogue of Deathly Hallows. I would have rather JK wrote more about other characters and times and left Harry, Ron, and Hermionie standing on platform 9 3/4 sending their children off to Hogwarts.
