Me gustó mucho.

I take it back
This is a 1 star read for sure
This book is the worse in so many aspects I don’t even want to think about it anymore…

I'm torn. On the one hand, this is more in the Harry Potter mythos, and let's be real, I would read Ollivander's receipts.

Actually, I would read the crap out of Ollivander's receipts and invoices -- can you imagine how much you would learn from those?

That aside, this is more Harry Potter, and I love that. However, I'm a little less in love with the script itself. Part of it is that, being a superfan, there are particular things I wanted out of this script, and I didn't get them. This uses a lot of cliches -- including some rather wonky time travel -- without giving us what makes HP so great: JKR's writing itself. She manages to include massively heartfelt lines with beautiful, snarky humor and amazing puns -- and it's pretty clear that while JKR greenlit the project, her hands weren't on the script much. There's also not a lot of new information about the world itself, which I know isn't the point of the play, but which is something I was deeply hoping for.

It's clear that this play would be great staged -- the amount of necessary effects and screen changes alone makes it a spectacle -- but as a standalone script, it's less compelling.

Was this book well-executed, sensible, and absolutely flawless? No. But was it enjoyable and a nice trip back into the Harry Potter world? Absolutely. This book felt like a crackfic gone bad, and it was full of things that seemed so out of character for many of the characters, but I still enjoyed every second. Scorpius and Albus are what really won me over; their friendship was so adorable and I could definitely foresee it becoming more than friendship in the future. Anyway, this book was pretty terrible, but I had a lot of fun reading it.

I hated this book. It was such a disappointment. Killed the magic of the Harry Potter universe for me for sure.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed reading a Harry Potter story in play form for the novelty of it. But from beginning to end, something felt missing-- in this format, the new characters lacked development. I wanted to get to know them and feel their stories, but never really did. I'd love for JKR to develop Albus, Severus, Rose, and all a bit more in another book.

I'm just going to accept this as published fan-fiction. I like it much more when I don't accept it as real canon.

This is written as a play, which was weird at first but really didnt make any difference. The book is basically the cliffs notes version of what would have been a good book had it been written like the others. This was fast paced, watered down, uneventful. The end started to be a little more true to original works, but then it wasnt. The adult harry, ron, hermoine and draco didnt even hold true to their original, younger, personalities and characters. Dissappointing.
