There was so many things wrong with this book. Voldemort has a daughter with Bellatrix?!?!? Snape smiles more within two pages then he has ever smiled in the entire HP series. Ron and Hermione were boring. I still don’t understand why Harry thought he had to watch his parents get murdered. He said he was letting it happen. No. The only thing you were doing was not interfering with the past, which the entire book proved how dumb doing that is.
One of of the only things I like about the book was Scorpius Malfoy. He was an incredible friend and just an amazing character all around. Also, how was one of my least favorite character, Draco Malfoy, possibly the only character that actually acted like his true character? I did like how the author made Albus’ best friend the son of Harry’s enemy.

The Potter World will never bore me. It may be different but it still remains a favourite. I still would not say No to more stories from the world of Potter. It felt amazing to go back to the wizarding world!
I do not think words can convey how disappointed I was with this book. I can definitely jump on with the story. However, none of the characters reacted in a way that was conducive with how they were originally wrote. Harry is a jerk. Hermione is mean to everyone. Ron is an absolute idiot. Ginny's role is nonexistent. Draco is a whiny little boy. Minerva is a pushover. And the Potter boy, Albus, is a little prat.
I honestly feel like this was some sort of fan fiction and these two guys happened to convince J.K. Rowling to put her name on it too so that they could all make millions.

We're just going to ignore that this one exists in canon...
Note: it is actually a great play to watch, the special effects are amazing, it's the plot and characterization that doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the books.

I loved it. I had no expectations for an eighth book. To be honest, I barely remember the prior plot lines and minor character's names confuse me. I did miss the Hogwarts experience and the time travel was ridiculously hard for me to follow. I could have used a little more Hermione.
That said, there is nothing like the magic of Harry Potter. I love that Harry is on stage and would give an arm and an actual leg to see the play in London.
The most enjoyable reading experience of the summer for me.

medium-paced
Super torn here; I love, love, loved the production, and live this play feels amazing to witness. On paper it's less magical and doesn't read as the best version of itself. Nonetheless I enjoyed comparing what can be experienced on paper to what I experienced seeing the play.
This book was a let down. It only gets two stars (and not one) because of the slight joy of seeing Rowling write about Harry, Ron and Hermione again that escaped the crushing disappointment of the script. The book reads like fan fiction, the plot is weak and destabilising to the Harry Potter universe at best and the characters do not sound like the ones we grew up loving. Rowling had created a wonderfully self contained universe and given it a perfect ending, I wish she had left it that way.

I have never been so disappointed in a book in my entire life. It makes incredibly sad that this was ever written in the first place.
