I'm conflicted because it was so short and I've been reading 15 hour and 24-hour books. It got straight to the point. I did not expect the reverse Harem but was not exactly mad at it. Just enough of a plot line to keep the story going. I'm still interested so I'll see how the second book is

I wanted to like this book so much more than I did. Great concept of a plot, mid execution at best.

I have heard about this book for a few years, and finally decided to give it a shot and pick it up.

“The Never King” follows Winnie, a young woman who just turned 18-years-old. When any Darling woman turns 18, they are kidnapped and taken to Neverland by Peter Pan. For years Winnie heard this cautionary tale from her mother, whose own trip to Neverland left her broken. Now, it is Winnie’s turn.

I knew this was a Peter Pan retelling, but I did not realize the direction it was going to take. I do think it was a really fun idea that we get to experience Peter Pan and Neverland with a new generation of Darling woman. It was also fun to revisit the world of Neverland as an adult, especially the added spice element. I do wish there was more explanation as to why Peter Pan and the Lost Boys are older. Do they age, but at a slower rate? The original story talks of them as children, so they are obviously adults now, but I want to know if they reach a certain adult age and then stop aging..?

I did not love Winnie as a character. She very much seemed like the cliche, stereotypical female lead that is not like everyone else and going to break the family curse one way or another. She just felt overall flat to me, which made me not crazy invested in her story. Her character ultimately developed in the direction I expected, and her ending is exactly how I thought it would be.

This was a really quick, fun read with a little violence and a lot of spice. I do think it is a great, complete story on its own, but I would be curious to see how the rest of the series continues.

Overall, this was very okay, and if you are curious, it is worth a chance.

Loved this book. I enjoyed the story and the exotic scenes didn't feel forced or included just for the sake of being included to me they had a purpose. The one thing is towards the end of the book it was a bit unrealistic how the mother reacted from the beginning of the book being so intense. I am excited to read the next book.

A surprising amount of lore in this short Peter Pan retelling. It’s a bit dark and steamy, you probably know what to expect.

It’s fun, honestly more fun than I thought it would be!
