Love that Lewis Black.

Lewis Black is the only person who can scream in written form. "Oh Eric lots of people yell when they write, it's called exclamation..." nonononononono. Lewis Black yells in writing. If you like Lewis Black, you'll enjoy this. If you don't, you won't. What more could you conceivably expect me to tell you.

This was not as organized as his second book, [b:Me of Little Faith|2797291|Me of Little Faith|Lewis Black|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51lSzps3vbL._SL75_.jpg|2823075], and although the memoir bits of growing up in the 60s were honest and interesting, they lacked the humor and voice I expect from Lewis Black. The non-memoir or "flash-forward" pieces were mostly written versions of his comedy routines that I have watched repeatedly and memorized with friends, recited back, and heard over and over in many voices. Less interesting in print. Still, this was worth reading once.

Three stars, recommended if you haven't already read [b:Me of Little Faith|2797291|Me of Little Faith|Lewis Black|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51lSzps3vbL._SL75_.jpg|2823075] but plan to do so.

A very funny, insightful audiobook perfect for a road trip.

Love Lewis Black, the book, not so much.
dark emotional funny hopeful lighthearted reflective medium-paced

It’s such a funny but thoughtful memoir. I love rereading this one every few years. It’s such an honest reflection on humanity - both his and everyone else’s.

Love Lewis Black when he is on the Daily Show. Was hoping for a 5 star book, but I had to give it only 4. Something was missing. Perhaps he needs to be seen and heard, not read.

This memoir by a baby boomer playwright is just like the conversation you’d have with this guy if he was sitting next to you on a plane. The writing is casual and conversational, the anecdotes sometimes funny and sometimes not so much. I can relate to the mind-blowing pleasures of growing up in the 60s, although some of Black’s antics made me go “Ewww. Only a guy would do that.”
