This was so disappointing. I actually had to look up what the book was about because I forgot it all. There were some parts of it that were interesting but I just did not like this main character or the main hero at all. Duncan is interesting in theory, but he goes off the deep end with his PTSD and it is explored through tropes that I hate. It felt like drama for the sake of drama instead of actually exploring these very different characters who were both recovering from trauma. The school reminded me of a school I worked at so that was interesting, wish we had seen more of the teachers there or any characters outside of the main hero and heroine, that would've made this feel more authentic. The worst one I've read by Katherine Center to date she is usually lovely.

Overall this was a good read. Samamantha works at a library of a school. They get a new principal, Duncan. Sam has worked with him before and is shocked to see how much he changed. I thought it was very easy to figure out what triggered the change. I like Sam, but can't see why she keeps liking Duncan. He is displayed at public enemy number one and despite all that she still has feeling for him. A team member even says he is cute, but I don't know why she says that since he behaves so badly. I do like the writing style and humor of this author. Even though some aspects of the book annoyed, there also were some good parts.

This was repetitive and predictable, but good for when you want to read a Hallmark movie. There were so many pieces throughout though that I wish were more refined and fleshed out. I was really drawn to the concept but it just felt lacking overall; like this was an early draft of her manuscript and had she kept writing, so many great plot points and side characters could have been given the attention and detail I wanted and they deserved.

I love the audiobook reader. I wanted to love this book.
When she talk to the guy at the beach and had that awful conversation, and then started crushing on him, despite the fact that he turned her beautiful school into a prison and painted over to murals and held her in his arms…. Gag gag gag. It’s not even believable for a fantasy or sci-fi book. I just lost all interest.  Other authors do the enemies to friends troupe better. Way better.
