I'm unsure how to rate this book tbh. The plot was intriguing, I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened but the characters were... Unlikeable at best. Also I love twists and turns in a story, but the way the twists played out in this book felt like Jane Corry was kind of making it up as she wrote.

Speaking of the writing, it was strange. In one paragraph you could jump from a detailed description of a few minutes of time, then the next sentence is a vague description of what was happening a few hours (or even days) later. Very weird pacing.

The end, when it jumps to 5 years later, is honestly a huge disappointment. To find out that Alison had a plan of her own AFTER finding out about Crispin's plan was very very strange. No hints of it at all throughout the book, again just seemed like an afterthought that Corry tacked on at the end just to add another unnecessary twist.

I know I've done nothing but complain about the book, but the story itself was pretty entertaining. Worth a read but I wouldn't expect anything groundbreakingly good.
