This was a short audiobook but worth it. It felt like I was watching a movie as I listened to the narrators. Excellent narration! It gave crime drama feels.

This was a good listen. Love the person that read it. So sad. Even your children can do some imaginable things. And lose love for your child is the hardest thing to do!

Idk why I read this because this is one of my biggest fears as a parent. Especially a boy mom.

Let me start by saying, I love Lucinda’s writing. She combines darkness and fantastic thrillers with great twists, and I just love all of her reads. However, this one fell short for me. This one was predictable from the get go and there were truly zero twists that you couldn’t see coming. The main character drove me bonkers with her internal monologue and poor choices as a suicide hotline operator. The redeeming qualities were that the narrator for this audio was fantastic and it was a quick listen!

Whaaaaaat! Lucinda Berry does it again with a page-turner that I binged (on audio) in less than 24hrs

[AD: Thanks to LibroFM for a listener copy)

SYNOPSIS:

A seemingly routine call on a suicide hotline spirals into a personal nightmare for Felicia, a lawyer and single mom, as she uncovers a dark secret involving a local assault and a shocking connection to her own life.

MY THOUGHTS:

- Grabs you from the very start both with the audio production and plot line
- Starting with a caller to a suicide hotline (trigger warnings obviously) and what happens on that call is a jaw-dropping hook!
- Felicia the call handler is immediately out of her depth and I can't help but shout "No god, no what are you doing?" at the character whilst reading it.  Yet she is only trying to help, until... (I can't say, cos that'd be a spoiler"
- Although part of the way through I (and suspect other readers get an inkling of what's coming) you still are doubting yourself and thinking "If I am right, WTF will the main character do?"
- This was a tense, brilliantly produced, thriller that touches on very poignant but upsetting topics (so do check content warnings) in respect of SA and consent and more.
- This book had me hook, line and sinker.

First a big thank you to Libro.fm for the ALC!
Wow. This was one of the hardest books I've listened to in a long time. It's heavy with triggers of SA, rape & suicide hotline. As a survivor there were moments I had to really pause before continuing. It's a short audiobook under 4 hrs and AJ Cook did an amazing job narrating!
It's starts off with a call into the hotline and our MC who answers ends up getting attached and gives out her personal cell to the teen who called.
You then follow the story of the teenager and her story; and our MC Felicia and the lengths she goes to help this mystery girl.
-
I will say that the end was predictable but it didn't take away from the story for me. If you can handle the audio I highly recommend listening to it.
