I listened to just the audio ...
I was not expecting to love this the way I did ...
It was short, but the way the author was able to bring so much in that amount of time.
Felicia has dealt with so much, with her own challenges, and now knowing that no matter what good she did, her worst fear happened.
I feel for Felicia, but I am so glad that she was able to help another character in this story.
This was truly a mind-blowing quick read ...

I couldn't put down "One of Our Own." This book delves deep into the complexities of parental love and the harsh reality that it isn’t always unconditional. As a single mom, I found myself reflecting on my own parenting, especially when I read the poignant quote, "People never believe that bad kids can come from good parents." It left me endlessly questioning if I’m doing enough as a mother. This book is a must-read for anyone who has ever doubted themselves as a parent. Truly enlightening and profoundly moving!

This book was so chilling, its been a long time since ive read a thriller or book for that matter this short and it’s exclusive to audiobook which i thought was the best choice. The story starts with Felicia who works at a suicide hotline (she started working there because her sister killed herself and in way it helped her cope) the girl that was on the other end of the hotline was very frantic and had a gun, she was gang raped by guys that went to her school (but it was at a party) and they recorded it and sent the video all around school. This school was the same private school that felicia’s sons went to, so she felt especially connected to the girl. The call abruptly ended but right before she gave the girl her personal phone number.
Over the next several days she texted the girl sporadically and even had phone calls with her so she wouldn't kill herself. During these phone calls felicia also revealed that her son’s father (who is in jail now) assaulted her and almost killed her. The whole time after more and more pieces of evidence felicia was suspecting her son of being involved. He refused to talk about the day of said party, lied to her face about fighting with his friend, and was overall very disgusting about the situation when it all came to light. How this happened was chloe (the girl that called the suicide line) was planning to kill herself again because felicia told her to tell her parents and her dad went on a rampage and basically exposed her to the world, because of this felicia called the police and they put chloe in a psychiatric facility.
When felicia came to visit her they embraced and chloe ended up remembering more from that party, including that her underwear was missing. Felicia ran home and found the underwear in her sons hamper and from then they were tested and he went to jail. Honestly this book taught a really big lesson that sometimes evil is just born, someone can have the best parents, the best opportunities, have an absolutely wonderful life and still turn out horrendous.
