I have read this play a couple of times now. The first time was difficult as I was in High School and did not care about Shakespeare's dramatic technique. But, now that I am older I think I appreciated this story a lot more.

The only thing that I do not like about this play is that Othello is the "tragic hero". I do not believe his demise is tragic or that he is a hero at all. I feel like Othello let his jealousy get the best of him, therefore I am not empathic for Othello. Because of this, I feel like the play as a whole doesn't connect me as it connects others.

"It is silliness to live, when to live is torment; and then have we a prescription to die, when death is our physician." And here I thought Hamlet was dramatic. Loved this one albeit partially because I watched Vishal Bhardwaj's amazing adaptation Omkara right before reading. The start of this play had me laughing out loud while the end was just so chaotic, I couldn't even smile anymore. Lots to say about this but I already wrote a whole paper on it so I'll leave it at this.
