This is beautiful yet tragic, like real wars there is no winner only survivors.
Fucked up, sick and twisted, I cried for like 100 pages I never want to read it again; five stars

Un poco más lento al principio.
Brutal en ambos sentidos, te desgarra y la historia está genial.
pd: Kitay es el mejor personaje sin duda, me encanta
Muy buen cierre para esta trilogía tan buena.

honestly vacillate between liking this book and hating it. Ren is positively annoying. She never lets anyone finish their sentences or thoughts and takes nobody else’s advice on how to rule the country. She just blaze forth without a second thought and without any kind of plan for what to do next. I found it incredibly difficult to read this book except for Kitay, Nezha, and even the Trifecta. Perhaps it’s a testament to how big the scale of this trilogy and especially this book were, but I really felt that it did not have a measured conclusion, and there were a lot of jump points where it would just conveniently have a plot device that would make the next scene happen. I’m not sure that I like this book, but I do like some of the characters, the epic scope and the commentary on war especially civil war, destruction, famine, and PTSD, which is clearly what Rin was suffering from the entire time. I know this is a war novel, but some humanity or human emotion aside from rage and fear, or even a little romance would’ve gone a long way to make this book seem realistic.
The end with Nezha being forced to kill Rin by stabbing her in the heart was poetic justice I suppose but I hated that he didn’t even say what was in his heart.
I’m angry and feel like I spent 66+ hours reading this trilogy for a lot of unsatisfying endings.
