What a finish. I'm keeping this review short because it's hard to talk about The Amber Spyglass without delving into spoiler territory. It is a tremendous book in its own right and brings the series to a satisfying and complex conclusion.

Amber Spyglass does not have the rocket-strapped-to-your-ass feeling of the Subtle Knife and even sags for a bit in the middle chapters. It ultimately doesn't really matter, as three books (or two in the cases of Will and Mary) have built up such a deep story and enough familiarity with Lyra and Co. that Pullman delivers a suitable ending to almost every character.

This is the highest rating I could give. The readability of this story is unmatched. Such a wonderful conclusion to this trilogy. Lyra grew so much over this story. The characters were expanded upon wonderfully. I think my favourite was Mary Malone.
