an absolute stunner. perspective and experience are critical and beautiful, and i feel so lucky––though "lucky" doesn't feel nearly like strong enough a word––to have been able to bear witness to imbler's.

This book was sitting at a solid 4 and then I listened to the essay “Hybrids” and it immediate shot up to a 5.

This book is one part autobiography and one part marine science, blended together beautifully. I will say, check content warnings. There is a lot of discussion of the harm that can come to humans as well as marine life. Some parts were really hard to listen to for me and it took me a long time to finish this despite how short it is. That said, it’s really quite extraordinary. Thanks to libro.fm and Hachette audio for the ARC!
