All Benny wanted was to be accepted by her family & it's like everyone purposely tried not to see her for her. Byron is so stubborn, closed-minded, & arrogant. Since he was actively there throughout their mother's illness, he indeed failed Benny by not telling her about it. I could only image how Byron & Benny felt listening to the tapes tho. I would feel like I didn't know the lady either, especially considering she had a different name growing up. 

It's so sad that Hulu discontinued the series: the actors truly fit the book & it followed the plot perfectly.

Forgiveness and the lack of it was so heavy in this story. The apologies that did happen felt so laced with hurt and left them feeling flat and fake. I bet mom was hoping that with everyone sitting together they would find forgiveness in the truth. Impossible to find grace in the face of absence, missing dialogue, lack of comprehension and generosity. Cake sounds heavenly!!

I enjoyed this book but I will say it was a bit confusing with the different names and stories. It all came together at the end though. I appreciated how the chapters were shorter and not too long which helped me stay focused with all the different storylines.

I want a Bunny spinoff. I was sucked in to the story from the beginning. The endings felt a bit contrived and lost some of the realism.
