A Fond Hope was an interesting book. I have only read this one book and though I did feel as if I might have missed something, it was still very enjoyable despite that.
Not to sound rude to the author or the book, but it was easy to read even when I didn’t want to read it anymore, my lack of interest was more that I was in a different mental place when I began reading verses when I finished. Personally, I think that is a testament to the writing, that I could still read, and enjoy, even when my heart wasn’t in it.
There was definitely a sensation of urgency, the plot developed well even to the end, and all the characters appeared to be given enough time to develop and grow into enjoyable contributors to the story. Hattie did at times seem a bit jaded, and yet even this appeared to have been a necessary development. All in all, a nicely done story.
If someone is looking for a guilt free, clean, historical, romance this is your book.
