To be frank, Courtney Peppernell is no Rupi Kaur, but I did like this one better than the first Pillow Thoughts book. Many poems were very relatable but also very straightforward, leaving no room for interpretation.

I did read both in one day, and I do regret it... this is something I should have taken in small bites... but no I read the whole thing. My review for the other one is just like this one.

although i liked the grouping of the poems i found many of these poems too much like cheesy cat calendars - perhaps true and poinant at times but not the style of poetry that I love.

Beautifully written. This is exactly what I needed to be reading right with my broken soul, heavy heart, and as I navigate a new world.

“Some chapters don’t have happy endings. But you read on anyways, and I think that’s the point. Not to be happy all the time but to know the sun always comes back around.”

“Love isn’t the worst thing you can go through in life. Even if in the moment you feel as though navigating the storm is impossible. The worst thing in life is refusing to evolve from the hurt. Your heart can’t grow without you. It needs you in its corner.”

Plenty of food for thought. Enjoyed best in little doses so you can really digest the words and meaning behind each poem.
