It's so dark but somehow I can read this. Read the trigger warnings first but I highly recommend this short series. Lana is something else, you can't not sympathize with her... and love her spirit

Although I liked this a bit better than the first book, I'm still giving it the same rating as I did the first book. Four stars! Again, I'm more interested in Lana and her killings plus the current case the FBI is working on rather than the romance itself. So far other than them caring for one another and sex there isn't much substance to their relationship. Also, I noted this in my head when I read the first book, but didn't put it in my review so I'm going to document it here, but Logan gets too possessive for my liking. I can deal with a little possessiveness when it's warranted but this guy gets overly territorial if she's even in proximity to another guy and it's just so annoying to read about that.
Like in the first book he got all rowdy about her friend Jake and commented on wishing he was "more gay" (he's bisexual) so he'd be sure someone wasn't trying to steal his girl away. Or in this book, how he gets overly jealous over her protection detail. She has to constantly assure him to assuage his fragile male ego. And I'm just like get a grip, dude!😒
Lana would poke fun and call him a caveman and all, but girl, it's not funny. He can be a bit too hyper-masculine for my liking. And speaking of, what is with the underlining misogynistic tones from the guys in this book? I know it's to set the tone for them to not suspect Lana, but still. Like the idea of it being a girl is so quickly dismissed. You know there's this theory that some of the cold homicide cases throughout history are still running cold to this day because the police were chasing a male instead of a female serial killer. I always found that theory intriguing (I don't know the validity to it; there probably isn't any, but I still think it's an interesting thought to ponder). Oh also, forgot to say, but Jake and Lana's friendship is A1 in this book. He's protective of her in a healthy way while also respecting her decision. We like Jake over here!

The plot is thickening. Appreciating the criminology of it, as well as the complexities it brings to the relationship. I'm glad it's not just torturing bad guys or 'a hot guy and girl who have lots of sex because they find each other hot.' However, I'm still finding the relationship a bit possessive and lacking in substance outside of wanting to protect one another and finding each other attractive. I hope there's opportunity for them to actually know each other a bit more, and it looks like it's opening up that possibility.
Good cliffhanger.

Oh, snap! This book is so exciting and fast-paced though my heart broke for the kids who were abused😭 I feel for Hadley, that must have been hard to face. Damn, the agent still doesn't have a clue that his girlfriend is the "angel" who is killing men for revenge. I wonder if he will understand her situation or if his moral compass for doing lawful things is greater than understanding that a woman who had a tragic past is saving kids from predators by elimination. Murder is unacceptable, and I believe that she understood what Victoria/Lana got herself into, (that there's a huge possibility that she will be sent to prison) but as I know her character, it is safe to say that she will not regret a thing. Her mind is disturbed! It scared me at some points.😂 Oh, that cliffhanger killed me. Thank you, Stabby✨
