It was oke, just a lot of repetition again. This girl is still so naive and indecisive. How many times can you say that you are unsure of the position and that you need time?? All that Maxon keeps saying is that he will give her time. Next chapter they fight over the same thing and end the conversation the same way. It is still not really catching and driving me, but I think it was a bit better dan the first part because in the ending I felt that America might start coming out of her shell more

This is a very good book. There is nothing more I can say to this book. It only gets better!

I like this better than the first book. Although America is annoying and she cannot seem to make up her mind, I found myself liking her character. I was so deep into the story of the selection, the rebels, and the love triangle that I could not put down the book! When I finished reading, I immediately wanted to get ahold of the next book. It’s just that good!

AMERICA PLEASE make up your mind! This book is 300 pages of gaslighting and pms-ing and it’s infuriating. there is so much potential in the developing political storyline, but you have to wade through entire chapters of ‘will they, won’t they’ nonsense to get a glimpse of it. I feel like I’m reading a mid-tier fanfiction right now.

okay so while this book serves as a bridge between the other two books in the series and does give us a lot of information… i don’t feel like all that much happens. it’s a lot of back and forth between maxon and america and aspen and america. the epitome of will they, won’t they?

and i honestly forgot how much i hate aspenxamerica and just the love triangles in general. i like aspen, i just don’t like aspen and america. and the whole kriss/maxon/america situation always really frustrated me.

but i do love all the tension in this book and think it’s a perfect set up for the next book. can’t wait to finish my impromptu reread reading sprint

I liked the first book, but this one was way more annoying. The main character just couldn't make up her mind, to the point it was getting ridiculous. Still, I want to continue reading. Don't know what that says about me

I agree with many of the reviews on here saying America's indecisiveness was the worst part of this book... And unfortunately, it made up most of the book. It probably could have been better written, but at times it seemed like not even the author knew what America's deal was, which made the constant emotional turmoil hard to get behind. I think the author really should have made the series two books instead of three. The Elite had classic "Middle Book Stretching The Plot As Far As It Will Go" written all over it.

Easily the best part of the book was the final pages, when Maxon said exactly what I'd been hoping America would do for the entire series: 'I'm fighting for you, so you need to fight for me back and trust me.' Yes, please. Stop demanding sacrifices from him while waffling on committing yourself. After that, America found the backbone she had in the first book! Hooray! For about five pages. So not enough for me to give The Elite a higher rating, but it was enough to make me look forward to the third book!

The overall series is simple and an easy read. Each book takes me about two and a half hours from start to finish, and it's great light YA reading. Not going to win any awards, but a fun way to pass spare time. I'm hoping that The Elite just fell in the classic Middle Book Pitfall and it'll end strong.
