I enjoyed this book. It did the job of transporting me completely to a new place, which is surely the job of a book. I really liked that there is no real answer as to whether magic is real. It feels real, but is it all just coincidence? Very like real life in my opinion. I can say I’ve never been so hungry while reading a book before. I didn’t know it was part of a series, but I know what I’ll be reading next!

Oh my god, the chocolate. The chocolate! Drool. The descriptions are beautiful, and the characters are excellent. It takes a much darker turn than the movie, and ends quite differently, too. Very worthwhile read.
