It's a really slow book.
I am not happy with the mix of authors. Writing with Straub brought unnecessary complexity in writing.
Inserted many fireworks in the narration just to be there.
Yeah, it's a children's book, but not at this length.
Wolf was the best part of this book

I would say that the main thing of this book is the bad guys. They focus on how evil these people are and how much they take advantage of a young boy just trying to help his mother. Some of them don’t realize that’s what’s happening, but still they do some really messed up things to him. The payoff at the end of this book was fantastic. I think it was only beaten by Stephen Kings the stand. However, this book was really long and did not need to be.

I thought I would enjoy this more than I did but there were parts where I thought it just dragged. For 700+ pages of a story partially set in a parallel world, there's a lot less world-building than one would expect, and an awful lot of time spent in our own world rather than the Territories. There are tantalizing, oblique flashes of The Dark Tower in here but it really just made me wish I was rereading that series instead of this. Still, a pretty good book.
