Book 2 in the Thursday Murder Club series

The Thursday Murder Club are back and have another case to solve. This time Elizabeth is contacted by someone in her past who needs her help. There’s diamonds, mafia, drugs, and murder for the four septuagenarians to investigate. But can they find the villains before they become a target?

My thoughts: I didn’t overly enjoy the first instalment of this series so I didn’t rush into starting book 2 but I really enjoyed this one.
Now that we know the 4 loveable septuagenarians this story begins at a fast pace and has you gripped from the first page.

There are lots of things going on within this book and although the main characters are elderly you should not be fooled into thinking this is a cosy mystery. This is a twisty, puzzling story which will keep you guessing right up to the end.

The best part of these books is the amazing lead characters. I loved spending more time with Ibrahim, Ron, Joyce and Elizabeth and can’t wait to read what they get up to next.

I love the members of the Thursday Murder Club. They are delightful people. This is another fabulous adventure for them. Written with humour and a nice puzzle to work out.

The gang is at it again! The Thursday Murder Club, working out of the retirement community, is hot on the trail of murders, the mafia and stolen diamonds. Retired MI-5 agent Elizabeth leads her team first in pursuit of the hoodlum who attacked one of their own, Ibrahim, in a vicious street crime. At the same time, Elizabeth's ex-husband Douglas turns up asking for help, because he is the one who stole the diamonds from the mafia. This is a huge surprise because Elizabeth could have sworn Douglas had died many years ago. This is a delightful story with wonderful characters. I love this series!

I absorbed this as an audiobook read by Lesley Manville. Her voices really made it come to life making it, I'm sure, all the better for it.

Wow! The Thursday Murder Club was one of my favorite books in the last year or two so I was expecting a good effort but was wary of a let down. I believe this sequel superior to the first. Maybe it's the step up in crime level and danger but it's more likely that you just fall more and more for these characters. Osman is channeling multiple characters and personalities wonderfully. Serious subjects with a light hearted touch and sense of decency. Terrific! Very entertaining. Read Thursday Murder Club first and then prepare to take it up a notch.
