This book worked brilliantly as a graphic novel and I found the story just as intriguing this time around to. The full page illustrations in this graphic novel are gorgeous

I loved this book, but I did not like the graphic novel adaptation.

Every Day was one of my favorite books when I first read it (quite a few years ago now). I was interested to see this graphic novel adaptation of it, but was overall disappointed. A wakes up in a different body each day. One day, they wake up in the body of Justin who is the boyfriend of Rhiannon. They have a romantic day together and then A makes it their mission to find Rhiannon in every body they wake up in. Unfortunately, the connection between A and Rhiannon that first day didn't get fleshed out enough and it kind of made A's constant pursuit a little creepy and obsessive? We don't really see what makes Rhiannon so special in that first day, nor does their romance ever seem to build up naturally. There were other parts of the story that gave me the ick too. A is pretty relentless about shit-talking Justin and telling Rhiannon to dump him, but we don't really see what makes him so bad, so it comes across as petty, jealous, and a little controlling. I don't remember this from my initial read of the original story, but I hated that A was only in a fat body one time and they apparently "didn't feel like themself" because of it. Huh??? I love this concept but I'm finding myself wishing it was all done differently. No boyfriend for A to be jealous of, no fatphobia, more obvious queerness. Idk, just disappointed overall! The art was very pretty at least.

The art was nice but the story was repetitive and sad.

I loved the novel, but found that it didn’t translate into a graphic novel well. Too much internal monologue and thoughts that didn’t get shown in the graphic novel. It jumped into it that had I not read the novel I would be super confused reading the graphic novel. This one shouldn’t have been adapted IMO.
