Really brings across the atmosphere of Portugal during this period. The writing style made it sometimes difficult to follow: the book consists almost entirely of seriously run-on sentences. Whole conversations are written in one paragraph with only commas to separate the different speakers' sentences from each other. If not for this difficult writing style, I would have given this book 3 stars, but as it is I couldn't bring myself to finish before the library due date. Might try again later.
